A life spent in pursuit of great technology.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated with technology and its application to society. I first became involved in technology as a vocation when, at the age of 16, I joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as an Electronics Technician. I completed my apprenticeship in electronics with the RAAF and served as an Airman for 10 years.
I left the RAAF to join a software company called Aspect Computing. I spent the next couple of years as an infrastructure engineer, helping with tender responses in my spare time. I also served as Aspect’s IT manager.
Sometime in 2001 I was approached by Check Point Software for a pre-sales role. I took to the pre-sales process like the proverbial duck to water, and I would spend the next 10 years with Security Vendors.
Counted among my employers during that time are Trend Micro, Secure Computing, McAfee and Symantec. I also spent some time with a small start-up called Resilience, and it was there that I first started working in APAC. I really enjoyed my time in the region, living in Thailand and Singapore and working across the emerging markets.
Fast forward to 2011 and it was time to come home. I returned to my hometown of Adelaide, to reconnect with family and recharge the batteries. It was here that I joined IBM, where I would spend nearly 7 years. It was at IBM that I formalised my Architecture skills.
While at IBM I was part of the SA Health Bedside Computing Project, where we implemented a cutting edge entertainment system to 3,500 beds across 12 public hospitals. To this day it remains the largest project of its kind globally.
In 2018 I started a business whose sole focus is to bridge the gap between great technology and great healtchcare, by designing solutions that deliver better outcomes to more people at a lower cost.
Two decades of hands-on experience has yielded a skillset that touches on almost every function. This is a partial list.
